Object type:artifact
- Provenance
- Gluek Brewing Company was established in 1857 by Gottlieb Gluek in Minneapolis, MN, where it operated until 1964, when it was sold to G. Heileman Brewing Company. Gluek’s was highly popular in Minneapolis and achieved many notable accomplishments, including being the first brewery to patent malt liquor in the United States and founding the oldest restaurant in Minneapolis, Gluek’s Restaurant and Bar, which was originally a tied house. This table is made of wood, metal, and vinyl fabric, and was produced in the mid to late 1930s. Manufactured with the table were matching chairs comprised of the same materials. These tables and chairs were commonly placed in bars, cafes, and restaurants as an advertisement for Gluek’s beer.
